“We digitally shaved the pita bread’s ballsack,” he said. Surprised by how little they wanted changed, he explained how they only wanted them to edit the pita bread’s hair from its private parts. “We probably added six things into the orgy that we were like, ‘OK, these are like our sacrificial lambs.’” “There is a very sexually charged scene in the film, there is a pita bread with a scrotum,” he told Stern, adding that the lunch meat were involved in an orgy. Rogen sat down with Howard Stern to discuss the film and what he had to cut to get the rating he wanted.
The film is rated R but it was first categorized as NC-17 by the MPAA because of an eight-minute food orgy scene.
The animated film tells the story of grocery store food finding out what happens to them in the real world where they are chopped up, boiled and cooked so they can be eaten by people. Seth Rogen’s dark comedy “ Sausage Party” hits theaters this weekend.
